Buc-ee’s Boom: The Beaver Keeps Growing Across America!

The Buc-ee’s empire just keeps on expanding! From the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes, the beloved Texas-based travel center known for its world-famous brisket, Beaver Nuggets, and squeaky-clean restrooms is bringing more beaver joy to travelers than ever before.

This summer alone, Buc-ee’s cut the ribbon on three brand-new locations, marking major milestones for the chain:

  • Harrison County, Mississippi opened on June 9, 2025, giving the Magnolia State its very first Buc-ee’s.

  • Rockingham County, Virginia followed soon after, opening its doors on June 30, 2025, and officially welcoming Buc-ee’s to the Old Dominion.

  • Then, just one day later, Brunswick, Georgia, opened on July 1, 2025, expanding the Peach State’s Buc-ee’s family once again.

But Buc-ee’s isn’t stopping there. The Beaver is already looking ahead to a massive lineup of new locations set to open throughout 2026 and beyond. Fans across seven states have plenty to look forward to:

  • Goodyear, Arizona – June 2026

  • Benton, Arkansas – September 2026

  • Ocala, Florida – 2026

  • Monroe County, Georgia – Early 2026

  • Mebane, North Carolina – Late 2026 or Early 2027

  • Huber Heights, Ohio – April 2026

  • Boerne, Texas – 2026

  • San Marcos, Texas – May 2026

From the desert sun of Arizona to the rolling hills of North Carolina, Buc-ee’s is making sure travelers everywhere have a place to refuel, recharge, and enjoy a little taste of Texas on the road.

Every new Buc-ee’s brings hundreds of jobs, incredible food, and that signature blend of hospitality that turns a quick pit stop into a destination all its own.

The Beaver’s building boom shows no sign of slowing down — and that means more brisket, more Beaver Nuggets, and more reasons to hit the highway!

Buc-ee’s Expansion Bonanza: The Beaver Keeps on Buildin’!

The Beaver isn’t slowing down anytime soon! Buc-ee’s is charging full speed ahead with even more locations across the country, giving travelers from coast to coast a taste of Texas-sized hospitality, world-famous brisket, and the best bathrooms on the open road.

Get ready, America — here’s where Buc-ee’s is setting up shop next:
Arizona is getting in on the action with a brand-new store in Goodyear, opening in June 2026. This will be Buc-ee’s first trip into the Grand Canyon State, and fans are already buzzing to see that smiling beaver logo shining in the desert sun.

Arkansas will welcome a Buc-ee’s in Benton by September 2026, bringing Beaver Nuggets and fresh barbecue to Razorback country.

In Georgia, the Peach State’s fourth location is on the way! Monroe County will be home to another 74,000-square-foot traveler’s paradise, expected to open in early 2026.

Up north, Ohio fans are eagerly waiting for the Huber Heights Buc-ee’s, slated for April 2026. Construction has faced a few delays, but one thing’s for sure — when that ribbon is cut, Buckeyes will finally get their first taste of Buc-ee’s magic.

And of course, Texas—the home of the Beaver—isn’t being left out! Two new Lone Star locations are set to open in San Marcos (May 2026) and Boerne (2026), proving that even in its home state, Buc-ee’s still finds room to grow.

From the desert to the heartland, from the deep South to the Midwest, Buc-ee’s is spreading smiles, brisket, and Beaver Nuggets everywhere it goes. The Beaver’s building boom shows no sign of slowing down, and I can’t wait to hit the road to visit every single one.

Buc-ee’s Breaks Ground in Ruston, Louisiana — The Beaver Heads to the Bayou!

The Beaver is crossing into Cajun Country! Buc-ee’s, the legendary Texas-based travel center known for its world-famous brisket, Beaver Nuggets, and spotless restrooms, officially broke ground on its first-ever Louisiana location in Ruston. The new store is set to open its doors in mid-April 2027, marking a big milestone for both the Bayou State and Buc-ee’s loyal fans.

Governor Jeff Landry joined Buc-ee’s officials and everyone’s favorite mascot, Buc-ee the Beaver, to celebrate the groundbreaking near Interstate 20, east of Shreveport. The governor shared his excitement in a social media video, saying,

“If you want to know how great your state is, count the number of Buc-ee’s. So, Louisiana is getting great because we got one and another one.”

That’s right, Louisiana is officially on the Buc-ee’s map!

When it opens, the Ruston Buc-ee’s will boast a massive 74,000-square-foot store with 120 fuel pumps, offering plenty of room for travelers to fill up, refuel, and stock up on their Buc-ee’s favorites. But this one will also bring a local flavor — boudin will make its debut on the Buc-ee’s menu! That’s right, Texas barbecue meets Louisiana spice, and it’s bound to be delicious.

Inside, visitors can expect everything that makes Buc-ee’s legendary:
  • Freshly smoked Texas-style brisket
  • Handcrafted fudge and kolaches
  • Iconic Beaver Nuggets
  • A huge selection of snacks, drinks, and road trip goodies
According to Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s Director of Real Estate and Development, Ruston was the perfect choice:

“Ruston is a smart-growth town with a big attitude and the perfect location for us in NW Louisiana; that is a great combination for us, and we are honored to be here.”

The new Buc-ee’s will create over 200 full-time jobs, all offering competitive pay and full benefits — just another reason Buc-ee’s continues to make a positive impact wherever it lands.

Louisiana fans have waited patiently for their turn, and now the countdown begins. By 2027, travelers heading along I-20 will finally have a new oasis to call their own — complete with plenty of Beaver Nuggets, brisket sandwiches, and a little Cajun kick.

So polish up those boots, Louisiana. The Beaver is headed your way!

Virginia Could Be Getting Its Second Buc-ee’s!

Howdy, Buc-ee’s fans! The great state of Virginia might just be getting another taste of the Texas-sized goodness we all know and love. Representatives from Buc-ee’s are meeting with Stafford County community members for an information session on Monday, October 20, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Forge High School. If all goes according to plan, this new Buc-ee’s will bring even more brisket sandwiches, Beaver Nuggets, and world-famous restrooms to travelers cruising along I-95!

The Details

Back on February 28, 2024, Buc-ee’s submitted a permit to build a 74,000-square-foot travel center at the intersection of Courthouse Road (Route 630) and Austin Ridge Drive, just off I-95 near Exit 140. The site spans about 36 acres of currently vacant land, perfectly positioned to capture that heavy traffic moving between Northern Virginia, the D.C. metro area, and points south.

The proposal calls for around 120 fueling positions, making it one of the largest gas station operations in the region. There’ll be 833 parking spaces, including 24 Tesla Superchargers, 12 RV/bus spaces, and 24 ADA-accessible spots. Like all Buc-ee’s locations, it’ll be designed for cars, SUVs, buses, and RVs only—no tractor-trailers allowed.

Inside the Buc-ee’s Experience

If approved, this location will deliver the full Buc-ee’s experience we’ve all come to expect. Picture it: shelves lined with Beaver Nuggets, fresh-made brisket sandwiches, jerky bars stretching as far as the eye can see, and Texas-themed merchandise waiting to make its way into your cart. Of course, the store will feature Buc-ee’s award-winning restrooms, which are nearly as famous as their food.

Community Response

As exciting as this news is for Buc-ee’s fans, not everyone’s on board. At a packed community meeting, some Stafford County residents raised traffic and environmental concerns about the proposed development. The Planning Commission has until October 29 to make its recommendation, after which a county vote could follow.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this one, folks. If the project gets the green light, it’ll mark Virginia’s second Buc-ee’s, following the wildly successful opening of the state’s first location last June.

Until then, let’s keep our fingers crossed and our brisket sandwiches close. The road from Texas to Virginia just keeps getting tastier!

Buc-ee’s Breaks Ground in Murfreesboro: The Beaver Expands Its Tennessee Territory!

Big news, Buc-ee’s fans! The mighty beaver is expanding again — this time deeper into the heart of Tennessee. On Tuesday, October 14, Buc-ee’s officially broke ground on its newest travel center in Murfreesboro, marking the fourth Buc-ee’s location in the Volunteer State.

A Big Day for Murfreesboro

The groundbreaking ceremony, held at I-24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway, brought together local and state leaders, including Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Rutherford County Mayor Joe Carr, and members of the Murfreesboro City Council.

Governor Lee shared his excitement, saying, “We’re proud to welcome another Buc-ee's location to Tennessee! This great American company is bringing jobs, economic growth & world-famous hospitality to Murfreesboro.”

And he’s right — this new Buc-ee’s will be a major addition to the area. Spanning a whopping 74,000 square feet and featuring 120 fueling positions, the Murfreesboro Buc-ee’s will bring the brand’s legendary mix of clean restrooms, fresh food, and Texas-sized friendliness to even more travelers across the Southeast.

A Beaver-Sized Impact
When it opens — projected for November 2026 — the Murfreesboro store will be one of the largest Buc-ee’s in Tennessee. Inside, guests will find all the Buc-ee’s favorites we know and love:
  • Texas barbeque fresh from the pit
  • Homemade fudge and fresh pastries from the bakery
  • Beaver Nuggets, kolaches, and jerky galore
  • And of course, the friendliest beaver in the business greeting you at the door
Stan Beard, Buc-ee’s Director of Real Estate and Development, said it best: “Murfreesboro has been a great partner to work with since we first visited. This community will be a welcome pitstop for folks traveling to and from Nashville, Atlanta, and the Gulf Coast.”

Tennessee’s Growing Buc-ee’s Family
With Murfreesboro joining the lineup, Tennessee will now boast four Buc-ee’s locations. Karla and I have already made our way to the Crossville and Sevierville stores, and each one has delivered that signature Buc-ee’s experience we’ve come to love — spotless, welcoming, and packed with flavor.

We’re already counting down the days until we can add Murfreesboro to our Buc-ee’s List. It’s another exciting stop in Buc-ee’s journey across America, bringing that warm Texas spirit to even more travelers on the road.

Final Thoughts from the Trail
From brisket sandwiches to Beaver Nuggets, Buc-ee’s continues to prove that it’s not just a pit stop — it’s a destination. And for Tennessee, this expansion means more than just a store. It’s another chance to experience what we Texans call “the travelers’ oasis.”

Keep snackin’. Keep smilin’. Keep travelin’. And always keep Buc-ee’s on your horizon.

A Sweet Morning at Buc-ee’s Leeds: Muffins, Statues, and a Super Sausage Taco to Remember

Howdy, Buc-ee’s lovers! The Snackin’ Buckaroo and my lovely wife, Karla, saddled up once again and made our way to one of our favorite travel stops — the Buc-ee’s in Leeds, Alabama — on October 18. And let me tell y’all, this visit was packed with a few delicious surprises and one mighty fine collectible!

A Muffin Morning to Remember
Karla, who has a knack for finding the sweetest treasures at Buc-ee’s, made a beeline for the bakery counter — and struck gold. She came away with an assortment of fresh muffins that were as good as they looked.

Her top pick? The Orange Cranberry Walnut muffin — bursting with citrusy brightness, nutty crunch, and just the right touch of sweetness. But she didn’t stop there. She also snagged a Blueberry muffin (an all-time favorite), a cozy Cinnamon Chip, and a decadent Double Chocolate muffin. Every one of them was soft, flavorful, and baked to Buc-ee’s perfection.

Let’s just say the bakery team at Leeds deserves a big ol’ Snackin’ Buckaroo salute for these sweet delights!

The Super Sausage Taco Delivers Big Flavor
While Karla was exploring the sweeter side of Buc-ee’s, I was wrangling up some breakfast of my own — the Super Sausage Taco. Packed with sausage, potato, egg, and beans, and finished with a touch of that signature green sauce, this breakfast taco was nothing short of spectacular.

Pair it with a steaming cup of Buc-ee’s House Blend Coffee, and you’ve got yourself the kind of breakfast that keeps you fueled for the long haul — or at least until your next Buc-ee’s stop!

A Mini Statue with a Mighty Spirit
Before we rode off, I spotted something new that I just couldn’t resist — the Buc-ee’s Mini Statue. It’s a smaller version of the big, smiling beaver statue that greets you outside every Buc-ee’s. Now I’ve got my own Buc-ee’s mascot to keep me company at home — a perfect reminder of the joy and adventure this brand brings every time we visit.

Final Thoughts from the Road
Every Buc-ee’s trip has its own charm, but this Leeds visit had a special mix of sweet discoveries, hearty breakfast, and collectible magic. Whether it’s the muffins that make your morning or the statues that make you smile, Buc-ee’s always finds a way to turn a pit stop into a full-on experience.

Keep snackin’. Keep smilin’. Keep travelin’. And always keep Buc-ee’s on your horizon.

Buc-ee’s Coming to Wyandotte County by Fall 2027

Big news for Kansas City, Kansas! Wyandotte County can officially expect a Buc-ee’s on its turf by fall 2027 at the latest, according to the county’s economic development director.

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas’ board of commissioners recently approved a revision to the project’s development agreement. The update shifts the construction start date to October 1, 2025, and gives Buc-ee’s 24 months to complete the build. That timeline places the opening no later than October 2027.

The billion-dollar, Texas-based travel center and gas station chain is bringing its beloved brand of brisket, Beaver Nuggets, and spotless restrooms to Village West Parkway in KCK. The new Buc-ee’s will be a 74,000-square-foot travel center featuring 120 gas pumps and 12 electric vehicle charging stations.

The project comes with a hefty $95 million price tag, financed through a mix of private equity, debt, and public sales tax dollars via a community improvement district approved earlier this summer.

While construction was originally set to begin earlier this year, a combination of factors—including securing tax incentive agreements, adjusting legal descriptions, and some weather-related delays—pushed the start date back.

Even with the delay, Buc-ee’s loyal fans in Kansas and Missouri have plenty to celebrate. Once complete, this mega travel center will serve as a destination for road trippers, commuters, and anyone looking to fuel up with Buc-ee’s legendary snacks and hospitality.

Buc-ee’s Leeds, Alabama — Our Home Away from Home

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, just days after the grand opening of the Brunswick, GA store, Karla and I found ourselves back at one of our favorite Buc-ee’s stops — Leeds, Alabama. While we may visit Leeds every month, each trip feels like coming home to family. This store holds a special place in our hearts, and this visit was no different.

Sharing Stories and Smiles
We were eager to share our Brunswick adventure, complete with photos, with Windy and Matthew, the general manager at Leeds. Their smiles and excitement made us feel like we were reliving that grand opening all over again. Matthew and his team run a store they can truly be proud of — spotless, friendly, and filled with the kind of hospitality that makes Buc-ee’s famous.

A Breakfast Tradition
No visit to Leeds is complete without my traditional Buc-ee’s
breakfast, and this one hit all the right notes:
  • Brisket taco — smoky, savory, and generously packed
  • Beaver tots — perfectly fried, perfectly salted
  • Buc-ee’s House Blend coffee — rich, hot, and deeply satisfying
  • Texas Squeeze orange juice — my favorite way to toast the morning
It’s the kind of breakfast that doesn’t just fill you up — it fuels your day.

Taking a Taste of Buc-ee’s Home
Before heading out, we made sure dinner was taken care of Buc-ee’s style:
  • Sliced brisket — tender, juicy, and packed with flavor
  • Loaded potato salad — creamy, hearty, and full of bite
  • Coconut cream pudding — the sweet finish every BBQ meal deserves
  • Half-pound of dried peppered beef from the jerky bar — my go-to road trip snack
That’s the beauty of Buc-ee’s: you can have a legendary meal right there or take it with you and make the magic last a little longer.

The Warmest Hugs in the Buc-ee’s Family
We’ve met incredible people at every Buc-ee’s we’ve visited, but Leeds holds the crown for the biggest and best hugs. It’s more than customer service — it’s genuine friendship. Walking into Leeds feels less like stepping into a convenience store and more like dropping by to visit old friends.

Buc-ee’s Leeds will always be a touchstone for us. It’s where road trips begin, where stories are shared, and where Texas hospitality is alive and well in the heart of Alabama.

Keep snackin’. Keep smilin’. Keep travelin’.

Brunswick, Georgia Buc-ee’s Grand Opening — A Taste of Texas on the Georgia Coast

July 1, 2025 marked a milestone for Buc-ee’s fans across the Southeast — the grand opening of the brand-new Brunswick, Georgia Buc-ee’s! Karla and I made the trip to be part of the celebration, and what a day it turned out to be.

The air was filled with excitement (and the mouthwatering aroma of BBQ) as guests poured in to explore the massive new store. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were greeted by that unmistakable Buc-ee’s blend of energy, friendliness, and Texas pride.

Meeting Buc-ee’s Legends
One of the biggest highlights of the day was meeting Arch Aplin III, the founder of Buc-ee’s. We had been looking forward to this for years, and the moment didn’t disappoint. Arch graciously signed my treasured March 2019 issue of Texas Monthly and posed for a photo with us — courtesy of our new friend Randy Pauly, Director of BBQ, who, by the way, takes a fantastic selfie. Arch’s daughter, Katherine, also signed our copy of Buc-ee Goes to School, instantly turning it into a family heirloom.

We also had the pleasure of meeting Randy Pauly himself — the legend of BBQ — and Jim Mills, Director of Culinary Services. Randy’s warm personality and quick humor matched his reputation, and Jim and I had a wonderful conversation about Buc-ee’s food philosophy, the bakery, and the art of the perfect jerky recommendation.

The People Who Make Buc-ee’s Special
Buc-ee’s is famous for its spotless stores, delicious food, and endless merchandise, but it’s the people who truly make the experience. On opening day in Brunswick, we met:
  • Alicia & Serena — friendly and efficient at the registers
  • Haley, Becky, & Karen — merchandising pros who keep the shelves stocked and inviting
  • Michael & Jess G — jerky bar experts who know their flavors inside and out
  • Rhonda, Tara, & Maria — baking up fresh, irresistible treats
  • Charlotte — serving up fudge that could melt anyone’s resolve
  • Kelly — keeping the coffee flowing for early-morning and road-weary guests
Every single one of them radiated the kind of hospitality that turns a simple store visit into a memory.

Food Highlights — and a Bakery Favorite
If you know us, you know we never leave Buc-ee’s without sampling something delicious. Brunswick delivered in spades — from smoky, tender BBQ to the addictive treats at the bakery. Karla fell head over heels for the blueberry scones — soft, buttery, and bursting with fruit. Add in fresh fudge, a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, and a jerky bar that could convert even the pickiest eater, and you’ve got a recipe for pure happiness.

Buc-ee’s: More Than a Pit Stop
As we told Arch that day, Buc-ee’s is more than just a road trip stop for us. It’s a taste of Texas — a reminder of home that we carry with us wherever we go. Every location we visit feels like a small reunion with the Lone Star State, and Brunswick was no exception.

We left that day with our arms full of goodies, our hearts full of joy, and our travel plans already pointing toward the next Buc-ee’s adventure — Mississippi, Virginia, and Amarillo are all on our radar.

Until then, Brunswick will hold a special place in our Buc-ee’s story — the day we met legends, made friends, and experienced Texas hospitality deep in the heart of Georgia.

Snackin’ Through Leeds: Our Flavor-Filled Visit to Buc-ee’s in Alabama

Every Buc-ee’s visit is an experience, but our latest stop at the Leeds, Alabama location turned into a full-blown snack adventure. While Buc-ee’s is always known for its wide selection of travel treats and Texas-sized hospitality, this visit introduced us to a crunchy lineup we couldn’t resist—Buc-ee’s Potato Sticks in four bold flavors!

We snagged:
  • Original – Classic, salty, and satisfyingly crispy. The baseline snack that delivers every time.
  • Jalapeño – A spicy kick with just the right amount of heat. A must for fans of bold flavors.
  • Cajun Boil – Packed with Southern spices, this one’s a flavor-packed journey to the bayou.
  • Cheddar Sour Cream – Tangy, cheesy goodness that’s dangerously addictive.
These new snack sticks are the bomb—perfect for road trips, movie nights, or just munching while you reminisce about your last Buc-ee’s run.

Sadly, the Dill Pickle flavor was out of stock during our visit—clearly a popular choice—but we’ll be on the lookout next time. My wife especially loved the Cheddar Sour Cream flavor and gave a big thumbs up to the Wavy Chips in Cheddar Sour Cream as well. Looks like we’ll need a snack drawer just for Buc-ee’s treats soon!

While we came for the snacks, we stayed for the smiles. As always, the Leeds team was welcoming, the store was spotless, and the atmosphere was buzzing with travelers and Buc-ee’s fans from near and far. There’s something about this location—maybe it’s the Alabama charm or just the unmistakable Buc-ee’s magic—that makes every visit memorable.

We’ll definitely be back. And hopefully next time, that Dill Pickle flavor will be waiting for us.

Have you tried the new Buc-ee’s Potato Sticks yet? Let us know your favorite flavor in the comments below—and don’t forget to follow our Buc-ee’s adventures at foodandflame.com.

Until next time—stay crunchy, my fellow buckaroos!
